Pitch Perfect: words, cards and educational resources for more inclusive spaces

For more LGBTIQA+‑competent counseling, lifelong learning and psychological services

We started from a simple question: how does an educational or listening setting change when attention is paid to language and communication? And what if our audience is LGBTIQA+?
The answer did not come only from books, reports or academic research, but from direct experience: narrative and creative workshops, training moments where artivism met lifelong learning, and spaces of dialogue between service providers and those who experience those services as LGBTIQA+ people. From these experiences, we developed practical resources, designed to be simple and adaptable in different contexts, with a focus on the sustainability and scalability of the Pitch Perfect project:

The “Words Matter” Manual

A manual, translated into Italian, English and Dutch, dedicated to counselors and psychologists as well as those working in education, social services, tutoring and guidance, particularly for young adults.
It combines critical reflections on the condition of LGBTIQA+ people in Europe with narrative glossaries, case studies and exercises.
Not to teach “how to speak correctly”, but to offer insights and tools to examine how language can generate inclusion (or exclusion), often in subtle and silent ways.

“Queer Quest”: 25 illustrated cards to talk about bodies, roles and identities

Alongside the manual, we wanted to experiment with a different language: visual and playful.
Queer Quest is a deck of 25 illustrated cards inspired by role‑playing games, digital artivism and online queer culture.
There are no fixed rules: the cards can be used in individual conversations, group activities or simply as a visual sign that a space is consciously inclusive.

To support their use, we created a practical guide with exercises and activity proposals, especially for non‑formal education contexts.

Facilitator Handouts

To support the use of the manual (and the cards), we also wrote facilitator handouts with guiding questions, prompts and adaptable activities, so that the work can continue even after the official end of Pitch Perfect.
