Close in the Distance
Play.
Educate.
Advocate.
Accessibility, Solidarity, and Collaboration: the words that best capture the altruistic culture of the original virtual communities and that we now use to promote an inclusive digital culture for all.
Association
Close in the Distance is a non-profit association bringing together tutors, educators, psychologists, and social workers, with the aim of promoting digital literacy, gender inclusion, and a culture that is open to diversity. We focus primarily on adult education and on supporting parenting skills, developing parent training programs, spaces for dialogue, and opportunities for reflection addressed to mothers, fathers, and caregivers. The topics we work on range from digital education to communication between parents and children, as well as supporting adolescents through the different stages of their development. As dedicated gamers and supporters of LGBTIQA+ perspectives, we promote a conscious and positive approach to digital culture, including within family relationships, particularly through EduGaming and Geek Education workshops.

Who are we?
LGBTIQA+ perspectives, SOGIESC topics, support for autonomy, parent training, lifelong learning, hands-on and playful education.
Different areas? Not really!
This is who we are: educators, psychologists, and tutors, but also parents who devote time and energy to developing accessible educational activities and to building authentic relationships in virtual spaces. We are people committed to education and lifelong learning, as well as to supporting parenting, but also gamers and activists who have long worked to promote LGBTIQA+ rights and the SOGIESC framework (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics), with the aim of fostering more inclusive and accessible educational practices, social activities, and learning environments.
Close in the Distance was founded in 2022 around these key ideas, with the intention of giving voice to these different perspectives and sensitivities. Our goal? To build together a shared space where people can freely express their ideas and from which we can communicate to others the value of online communities, relationships on the web, and what can emerge within virtual spaces.
