Parenting Services, Guidance Desk and Parent Training

Close in the Distance offers free parenting education and family psychoeducation programs aimed at parents and caregivers who wish to strengthen their educational and relational skills.

Meetings are held on a monthly basis (generally during the last week of each month) and can be activated upon request, either individually or, when there are multiple participants, in small groups of parents. These are spaces for dialogue, guidance, and in-depth discussion on current educational topics, within a framework of non-professional lifelong adult education.

Among the main areas addressed:

  • Family communication and everyday conflict management

  • Digital education, edugaming, and the conscious use of social media and videogames

  • Digital inclusion and supporting children online

  • Support for parents in cases of children’s coming out

  • Guidance and support in situations involving gender transition

  • Diverse families and the plurality of family models

  • Developmental stages and changes during adolescence

How does it work?

The process is straightforward: a parent or family may request a workshop on a specific topic, and a dedicated educational session will be organized. If multiple requests arise in the same area, small parent discussion groups can be activated.

Activities take place online or in person (Milan and Palermo) and are led by community educators and psychologists.

The workshops are (and will always be) free of charge and open to the public, with no access requirements.
